Q1. Where can I use my Costco membership?
Your membership is good at more than 700 Costco locations worldwide. (Excluding overseas online shopping/Costco Travel and gas station.) For each country’s/region’s information, please visit Costco around the World.
Q2. Why do I have to show my membership card upon entrance to the warehouse?
Since our members pay a fee to shop at Costco, we allow only Costco members to shop. Your picture appears on the card because your membership card can only be used by you and is non-transferable. Your picture also prevents unauthorized use should your card ever be lost and stolen.

Q3. What are Costco’s hours of operation?
Regular hours for all warehouses are:
Daily 10:00am to 8:00pm (closed on 1/1)
Holiday season opening hours (Dec 31: 8:00am -6:00pm)
Q4. Why am I asked to show my receipts as I exit the warehouse?
Staffing the doors is our most effective method of maintaining accuracy in inventory control. It benefits both our members and us. This practice ensures that you received everything you paid for and were not overcharged or undercharged for any item.
Q5. What types of payment does Costco accept?
You may pay by cash, Amex card or Costco Orico co-branded card. We do not accept other credit cards because their fees would increase the costs to our members and us.
Q6. Can I bring in a friend who is not a member?
Sure. You may bring up to two guests into the warehouse each time you shop, though only Costco members may purchase items.
Q7. Why are there no dressing rooms?
We are trying to adhere to a no-frills policy. This means keeping our costs as low as possible. Dressing rooms take employees to staff them as well as floor space that could be better utilized. But, remember our return policy: if something does not fit, just bring it back for a full refund.
Q8. How do I return merchandise?
Bring your merchandise and receipt directly to our membership desk for a full and courteous refund. Please bring all certificates, packaging and parts.
Q9. How do I return computers?
Costco will accept returns within 90 days (from the date the member received the merchandise) for Televisions, Major Appliances, Computers, Touchscreen Tablets, Cameras, Camcorders, MP3 players and Cellular Phones.
    
Q10. Are the electronic products sold at Costco imported according to Japanese law and guidelines?
All electronic products sold at Costco Japan are manufactured and imported according to Japanese law and guidelines. Please be assured in the use of these items at home or business.
Q11. Why are there no smaller shopping carts / baskets?
We sell American size imported items and/or bulk packaged items. Also, our members purchase many items at once. Therefore, we do not have smaller carts / baskets available.
Q12. How do I check inventory?
Please contact a warehouse for inventory.
Q13. Can I bring a pet with me?
You may bring a service dog and/or a guide dog with you; however, no pets are allowed.
Q14. Can I borrow a wheelchair?
Each warehouse has a limited number of wheelchairs. If you need a wheelchair please visit membership counter.
Q15. How do I renew my membership card?
You may renew your membership card at membership counter and/or register.
Q16. How can I check my membership expiration?
Please find 4 digits on the back of your membership card. The 4 digits represent the first month/year you joined as a Costco member.
Ex) 01/12 (January, 2012)
In this case, your membership is valid until January, 2013.
Membership renewed within 2 months after expiration of the current membership year will be extended for 12 months from the expiration date. Membership renewed more than 2 months after such expiration will be extended for 12 months from the renewal date.
